Meet "Mr. Ty"
I provide excellent one on one speech therapy services to children anywhere from one year of age through 21 years of age. Since I am the only therapist, you and your child will receive the utmost attention, care, and compassion during your evaluation and treatment sessions. I have been practicing in Anchorage since 2006 and many of my clients have been with me the entire time. Please "shop around" when looking for a therapist, as it is an important decision for you and your child. Finding a therapist who you and your child interact well with is an important factor in creating a comfortable environment that leads to success. As one of the few male therapists in the city/state, many people have heard of me that work within the field, and I feel very confident in my skills as a speech and language pathologist and my reputation that I have earned.
I have lived in Alaska since 2006 and fell in love right away. I am a huge outdoor junkie and am always competing in triathalons or hiking mountains with my lovely wife Theresa and our children Ryder and Lincoln. If we're not racing, then we're probably remodeling our home, traveling, or skiing.
I grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and went to college in Boulder, CO at the University of Colorado. I then took time off and worked as a recreational therapist before attending graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completing my Masters Degree in Speech Pathology in May 2006.
I love my job and the satisfaction that comes with helping a child learn the power and possibilites of communication. I work with children with articulation and phonological disorders, language impairment, learning delays, autism, reading and spelling issues, and even non-verbal children who require pictures or a voice operated device to communicate. There are many ways to communicate and it's important for all children to be given the tools and training to do so.
